Liberia is a West African nation that is undoubtedly faced with some serious challenges. In the aftermath of the fourteen years civil conflict and the Ebola virus disease there is a large number of orphan children. Some end up not being in school, some begging and many are exposed to abuse.Based on the UNICEF Annual Report of 2017, “the main social problem in Liberia is longstanding and widespread poverty, with two-thirds of the children who should be in school not in school, the world’s worst record. 38% of the population is food insecure, 25% of the population does not have access to drinking water, and just 17% have access to basic health services.
Obviously, some pretty oppressive individuals and groups have been hard at work behind the scene for this country to end up in this state. In a scene such as this, when there are so many things that need to change in order to reverse the downfall, the question is, “where do you start from?”
While many immediate actions should be taken to gradually start creating positive change in Liberia, there is one that is by far the most important. The way to create a better future in a nation, is paved by taking care of its children and youth. By “taking care” of-course, we mean, their health, their proper nurture and education, as well as an environment in which they are allowed to live with dignity, to discover and develop their talents and abilities. This is the only way for a nation to gradually change unwanted conditions and set the foundations for civilisation. And when these conditions are absent for the children and the youth in a nation, that nation is condemned. There will be no civilisation, only barbarism and degradation.
The way to create a better future in a nation, is paved by taking care of its children and youth… This is the only way for a nation to gradually change unwanted conditions and set the foundations for civilisation. And when these conditions are absent for the children and the youth in a nation, that nation is condemned. There will be no civilisation, only barbarism and degradation.
And this is the cause that a real Positive Change ambassador, Grigsby Zar, has devoted his life for. Under the banner “THE CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE“, Grigsby works tirelessly to mobilise as many allies and communities as possible in the initiatives of his organisation: The Hope for Destitute Kids. The programs that the organisation is running include, providing drinking-water, food, clothing, healthcare, and education to the children in need. Thanks to the initiatives of Grigsby Zar, the organisation feeds more than 50 orphans daily, it sees to it that these children and many more get enrolled in school, and it has delivered the lessons of the programs THE TRUTH ABOUT DRUGS and UNITED FOR HUMAN RIGHTS to 18,000 students.
Grigsby sets an example of a Positive Change leader and truly, creates a hope for these kids and a hope for a better future for Liberia!
